Where on the Western Slope do you live? how long have you been there? Where did you come here from? How did you learn about the WSA group and why did you join? Do you plan to be an "Active" member or is WSA just one more web registration for you?
We moved to Grand Junction from Montclair, NJ, in May 2012. We learned about WSA from friends who share similar interests with us.
How and about what time in life did you get started with outdoor recreation? What are a few of your favorite outdoor activities?
I have always been active. I have run in 4 NYC Marathons and once in DC - the Marine Corps Marathon. I never hiked until moving here and also enjoy running, cycling, snowshoeing, rafting and kayaking - any excuse to be outdoors!
What is the most challenging hike, bike, backpack, 14er, canyoneering, ski/snowshoe, river trip or other outing you've ever done? How or why was that; and, would you do that or something similar again?
The most challenging hikes have been The Wave (twice), mt. Garfield, Rattlesnake Arches, Blue Lakes in Ridgway and Ding & Dang Canyons.
Where is the most scenic place you have ever slept in a tent, walked or biked on a trail or travelled by paddle or oar down a river?
By far the most scenic place I have ever tent camped in was at Hole In The Wall Campground on Grand Manaan Island, New Brunswick.
After you've been on a few events with us, what kind of event might you be willing to to initiate and share with fellow WSA adventurers? Organize a hike? road or mtn bike ride? an evening on the river? a ski or snowshoe on Grand Mesa? Or... ?
