I put this on as Brean Down is actually one of the National Trusts top ten walks! Its only a fairly short one around, about 5km, 3 miles, but lovely views and terrain. We will start however some way away from the down, along the coast road toward Brean Down, this will add another 10 'clicks', about 6 miles to the walk, so overall it will be a 9 miler. It's a flat sand walk along the Berrow/Brean beach to the Down, then up and over, and back along the beach. This is a really enjoyable little hike this time of year!
If you want to just do the Brean Down part, park at the very end of the road at the foot of the Down in the Bird Garden cafe car park, free if you buy something, and we'll meet you there when we arrive at that point, roughly 12pm ish.
Parking is at a bit of a premium, but about 3 miles before you get to the end of the coast road heading towards the Down, there is a free nature reserve car park on your left at Berrow (not the large berrow beach car park a bit further on) its quite small and not that many spaces, so if you can car share it would help.
Please remember to bring your £1 contribution before the walk starts, if you're not a paid up yearly member. Many thanks.
