BREAN DOWN DAY WALK

I put this on as Brean Down is actually one of the National Trusts top ten walks! Its only a fairly short one around, about 5km, 3 miles, but lovely views and terrain. We will start however some way away from the down, along the coast road toward Brean Down, this will add another 10 'clicks', about 6 miles to the walk, so overall it will be a 9 miler. It's a flat sand walk along the Berrow/Brean beach to the Down, then up and over, and back along the beach. This is a really enjoyable little hike this time of year!

If you want to just do the Brean Down part, park at the very end of the road at the foot of the Down in the Bird Garden cafe car park, free if you buy something, and we'll meet you there when we arrive at that point, roughly 12pm ish.

Parking is at a bit of a premium, but about 3 miles before you get to the end of the coast road heading towards the Down, there is a free nature reserve car park on your left at Berrow (not the large berrow beach car park a bit further on) its quite small and not that many spaces, so if you can car share it would help.

Please remember to bring your £1 contribution before the walk starts, if you're not a paid up yearly member. Many thanks.

Cheers!

Weather is ok, bit hit and miss, however, I thought my ankle would be ok by now, but, sadly it still hasn't healed properly yet, so I can't do this one now.

Hi, I'm not a definite but am interested in joining you for the walk on Sunday. I've got 2 x dogs but would really need to let them off on the beach and I note that you say dogs welcome but only on leads? I presume that you would be happy for me to release my mutts as this is a small group - with I presume not many doggies? I currently organise the North Pethy and thereabouts for walking in the Quantocks and we have enjoyed some good, dog friendly walks since February this year. :-)

I will be missing this exciting event as I will be on my way to Australia. Hope you all have a great time and a lovely festive season. See you all again when I get back end of January ready for another great year of walking/hiking adventures. Thank you Nigel for organising all the hikes for us.
