THE COMPANY YOU KEEP @ LACMA, Thursday, 3/28, 7:30 PM

Free tickets for this advance screening with a guest to be announced attending for a Q&A afterwards are no longer available. RSVP's are closed!

The Weather Underground was a 1960's left wing terrorist group whose raison d'être was revolution. Some of them were killed, some went to prison, and a few disappeared. This movie is about one who almost got away. Starring an amazing cast (Robert Redford, Susan Sarandon, Nick Nolte, Julie Christie, Terrence Howard, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Elliott, Stanley Tucci, and Richard Jenkins) this one, even at regular prices, is irresistible.

Take a look at the trailer and see if you want to come along.

There is no dinner planned before the movie because we should all be in line no later than 6:45. I will be at Ray's and Stark Bar for drinks at 6 PM, though, expecting to get in line at 6:30, if anyone wants to join me.

Synopsis:

Robert Redford stars as Albany defense attorney Jim Grant who is trying to keep career and life from falling apart as he deals with the recent aftermath of his wife’s death. Laboring to raise her pre-teen daughter and maintain personal/professional equilibrium, Grant suddenly finds himself on the run from the law. Shia LaBeouf costars as Ben Shepard, the hard-working reporter whose investigation of a story about the arrest of a long-hidden 1960s radical sets into motion the chaos that overtakes Grant’s existence. Redford directs Lem Dobbs’s adaptation of Neil Gordon’s novel. Dobbs gives The Company You Keep the feel of an ensemble piece, with an all-star series of entrances and exits that include Susan Sarandon, Nick Nolte, Julie Christie, Terrence Howard, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Elliott, Stanley Tucci, and Richard Jenkins.

Lindsie I remember a couple of years I went to watch the Canadian Oscar winner for foreign movie, THE BARBARIAN INVASION, with a Canadian friend that she remember living there with the Social Heath Care, and people of the sixties. Is not my generation I am more from the seventies and eighties. This is the reason I was no so connected like the other assistants. But I enjoy the company. Thank you to be so nice and keep a seat for me.

Thought-provoking look at the generational consequences of the radical activism of the 60's, starring a great ensemble cast of screen luminaries from that era...a meditation on age, wisdom, and redemption, slightly marred by an underdeveloped denouement.

very interesting movie, brought me back to the late 60s to the very deserved unrest of the youth of that time.

Incredible cast, I really enjoy see Redford acting, Julie Christie, and others. Was a lot of dialogue and you need to follow, I was really very tired.

As of 5:10 pm on Mar 5 the tickets to The Company You Keep are sold out. If anyone with a ticket decides not to go, please pass it on to me so I can avoid the standby line and possible non entry. Thanks.

I'd love to see this film. I'm not sure yet how I go about getting the ticket but I'll check out the website and see if I'm lucky enough. But I'll definitely let you know if I can or can't make it - this sounds fun Lindsie - thank you for organizing it. I think my LACMA membership will be a good investment. Thanks again for pointing me in that direction too.
