PREMIUM RUSH @ AMC Century City 15, Sunday, 8/26, 11:30 AM

OK, I'll admit it...the AMC has discounted ($7 for all seats!) matinees before noon on weekends and holidays, and it's time to find out if this group has an audience for them. I don't think that this movie pretends to be anything more than a thrill ride for 90 minutes or so, so it's perfect for an experiment. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, one of our finest young actors, and Michael Shannon, whose performance in the tiny indie Take Shelter was totally awesome, this is a perfect popcorn movie with no pretensions to importance or gravitas (and an impressive RT score, whatever that means)...take a look at the trailer and let's go for a ride...:)

Tickets are available from the AMC website, but no one has bought any yet, so I'm going to hold off for now...just in case no one else wants to go...;(

Synopsis

Dodging speeding cars, crazed cabbies, open doors, and eight million cranky pedestrians is all in a day's work for Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), the best of New York's agile and aggressive bicycle messengers. It takes a special breed to ride the fixie - super lightweight, single-gear bikes with no brakes and riders who are equal part skilled cyclists and suicidal nutcases who risk becoming a smear on the pavement every time they head into traffic. But a guy who's used to putting his life on the line is about to get more than even he is used to when a routine delivery turns into a life or death chase through the streets of Manhattan. When Wilee picks up his last envelope of the day on a premium rush run, he discovers this package is different. This time, someone is actually trying to kill him.

Pretty much what I was expecting...a little too much of bikes performing miracles in traffic, but a great final 15 minutes...

hey Lindsie, Saturdays and Holidays (and often weekdays!) would be the group for me but Sunday I sing in a church choir. Thanks for trying. I hope it works out.
