My sincere apologies for disappearing during the month of April. I tore my meniscus and had knee surgery in early April. My recovery has been going well, and I am getting back to my normal, active self again. But as you might imagine, I had my dance card pretty full last month.
I am hosting a party that has always been dear to my heart since moving from the Jersey Shore 16 years ago. Back east, Memorial Day weekend has always been the unofficial start of summer. The traditional way to celebrate is to hop from home to home, enjoying casual outdoor fun, sharing secret family recipes (who knew there were so many ways to do potato salad?!), and dancing to really great music. I have hosted many a party like this right here in the Palisades--with a friend's garage band playing in my backyard. There may have even been a keg stand or two. Yes, I recall that is definitely the case.
This year, I won't have a band, but I will certainly have the music turned up, and dancing will be encouraged. The fire pit will be roaring, the shuffleboard court is prepped, and I recently added a new ping pong table. The food will be anything you might bring to a BBQ. I know, however, this group is creative. So bring it on! I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Take note, the party is on the SUNDAY night before Memorial Day. And because this is a long-standing tradition of mine, I will have some friends outside of our Meet-Up group showing up. So expect big, rowdy fun if you plan to attend.
I have missed you all. The last two dinners were delicious, and the company even more so. If you RSVP, please indicate what you plan to bring so we don't end up with 15 potato salads (not that there's anything inherently wrong with that!).
And if you have any good dance tune requests, throw them my way. I will make a killer playlist. I also create a take-home CD for a party favor. Hmmm, I better get to work on that!
See you soon! --Susan
