Featured this week: By The Numbers

We'll talk about transposing, scale degrees, and making the switch from letters to numbers as a valuable survival skill.  Or if the group wants to focus on a different topic, we'll do that instead :)

I got tripped up when we were doing a minor key as opposed to a major one. Is there a common tool for figuring that out? Like a major progression is typically 1,4,5.... what is a typical minor progression? Google seems to say there are tons of them.

Yep. Relative scales are pretty much interchangeable in most applications. Playing either the relative minor or relative major can take you far. The relative major is less common (at least in beginner/intermediate circles) so it's often a good choice if you want to stand out a bit more :)
