Fire in the Hole! Pepperfire Hot Chicken

Hot Chicken & Waffles are on the menu at Pepperfire on the north-side of town. I crave good chicken & waffles but can't really find them in Nashville until now. But even better, it's with "Hot Chicken". They also have a version called Applefire (picture at left): Waffles, Hot Chicken tenders and sweet apples. Life doesn't get much better than this...

The "Pepper Cheese" is one of my favorites too - I struggle with life's decisions - deep fried "grilled" cheese w/Pepperjack cheese.

p.s. They have the best fried okra this side of the Mississippi. But honestly, should you get fried okra anywhere but "this" side of the Mississippi???

Let's make a stop for some seriously hot chicken at Pepperfire on Gallatin Road.

Hopefully, we will have some nice weather (below 90) and can congregate at the enclosed picnic tables out front. You can call in your order ahead of time (ranging from “mild” to “extra extra hot”) to avoid a long wait for your chicken (made to order). Orders take on average about 15-20 minutes to prepare, so you can call on your way.

Directions: From I-24W, take Ellington Parkway. Take E Trinity Lane exit to the right and a right on Gallatin Pike. Located at the intersection of Dozier Place.

Hot chicken or Nashville hot chicken is a type of fried chicken that is a local specialty of Nashville, Tennessee. In its typical preparation, it is a portion of breast, thigh, or wing that has been marinated in buttermilk, breaded, sauced using a paste that has been heavily spiced with cayenne pepper, and pan-fried. It is served atop slices of white bread with pickle chips. It is both the application of a spicy paste and the presentation that differentiates it from similar dishes, such as Buffalo wings. It is similar in heat to Caribbean Jerk chicken, but is sauced rather than spiced with a dry rub.

The medium hot chicken was very good and the camaraderie was awesome! Thanks Rose for organizing another great Nashville food experience.

With this many people look for parking along the side streets.

Just a reminder to update your RSVP if you are unable to attend so I have an idea of who to expect. Seating will be a challenge so bring an extra folding chair - just in case. Lastly, call your order in about[masked] minutes ahead or you may have a significant wait.

I spoke with Pepperfire a couple weeks ago and they are eager to have us (as always). Again, seating will be a challenge so bring an extra folding chair. Hopefully, it's not too hot that day since there is no A/C. Again - call your order in about 30 minutes ahead or you may have a significant wait. I can't stress this enough. I will order when I get there since I plan to hang out a while and hopefully meet and talk with everyone.

    BRING ON THE HEAT!!

    Really? No BR?

No, Wanda. It's technically a carry out location - almost like a walk up food truck. But they have enclosed seating on picnic tables. I would suggest going before leaving home ;)
