I met the really dynamic chef/owner of the new Tango Grill tonight, Alexia Cabrera-Humphrey. She told us stories of her childhood in Uruguay and how a Middle Eastern dish made her South American menu of Uruguayan & Argentinian dishes.
I loved the shakshuka (the lone Middle Eastern dish on the menu) served with about a half loaf of crusty toasted French bread. Alexia stopped by the table after I ordered it to ask if I was familiar with the dish and I said yes. Then she asked how I wanted my eggs cooked - runny, please. She even gave me some cooking tips on how to make it at home.
I love that this is 5 minutes from my new office and see this place becoming one of my favorite lunchtime haunts. The prices are very reasonable, the food delicious and the conversations with the chef "PRICELESS".
She gave me a tour and is looking forward to hosting us (separate checks). And there will be Tango entertainment for the evening with dancers who "dance with passion, who feel it in their blood!" as Alexia commented.
Tango is located on Lindbar Drive in a small strip mall behind Hooters (at I-24 & Harding). Google GPS took me straight to the location.
