Soy Bistro - Brentwood (Korean, sort of...)

I have been here a couple times since it switched hands about 3 years ago. Both were wonderful experiences. This place is small and always packed, but should be a great place to meet when the Maryland Farms workers are gone.

The original owners kept promising me Bibimbap and always grilled me when I asked for kimchi on the side. "You know kimchi? How you know kimchi?"

My best friend growing up (from the age of 6 YO) was Korean. Mama Kim is the reason I love ethnic cuisine. She "made" me eat raw stingray, kimchi and dried octopus at a very young age. I can still see her face and hear her voice when I questioned: "What is this?" Her response; "Just eat!". And I did...

The diffused natural light helps a lot. The worst is overhead lighting, whether from the sun or light bulbs.

I so hate to have to drop out, but I just had to schedule a Sears technician for Saturday. :(

What I'm hearing is the need for a Laundry Day Meet-Up!
Each week we meet at a different laundromat!!!

Kim, you should have come along! There was a laundry/dry cleaner right next to the restaurant!

Loved it! What a cute little spot! They handled our large group very well for such a tight kitchen. The quality of my meal was great and the prices were good.
Props to "Jen K." who had been up since 2 a.m.!!

Thanks everyone, we had 108% turnout due to one "crasher". Not really, she called me last night and asked to come since she was planning to be in the area.

I hope everyone enjoyed their food. I won't get the spam fried rice (aka Hawaiian) again. It was good but I'm just not a fan of fried rice but I wanted to try something different. The fried dumplings were awesome, so much so that Wanda placed another order after trying mine.

That Bibimbap was delicious! It was my first time trying it, and I'd easily eat that again.

I will get that next time. I've had it at several Korean places. Theirs appears to be pretty authentic despite being a fusion restaurant.

    Thanks for the kimchi, Rose!

You are welcome. I hope it pairs well with your eggs. Keep me posted on that. I may have to try.

Since you asked earlier, the heat of the Bibimbap increased the more you ate. Eventually, I was feeling warm and fuzzy inside, and my sinuses were clearing up. :-)

Due to the waitlist, I will be planning a couple more meetups here in the next month or two. So be patient, waitlisters. Be aware, you will not be allowed to duplicate your RSVP to allows others the opportunity to attend. New & harshly enforced rule! I will be cross referencing events. I'm an analyst - it's what I do... ;)

Hmm. Well OK. At least I am not #97 on the WaitList.
