FIRST TIME RSVP's ONLY! If you RSVP'd for August 2nd, please refrain from RSVP'ing or update your RSVP.
I am keeping this Meetup really small due to the size of the restaurant – rearranging too many tables is impossible. If it is popular, I will reschedule a 2nd or 3rd Meetup to accommodate others.
King Market in Antioch houses both a grocery and a Laotian/Thai/Vietnamese restaurant. My favorite pad kee mao in town as of now. I think they make their own noodles in house. I haven't asked but have a sneaky suspicion.
I love going here for lots of reasons - to awe at the food in the market, to have a great dinner, reasonable prices and it's close to my house, and they have a "to go bar" by the register with THE BEST crab Rangoon in Nashville.
For the record, King Market is now my new favorite Laotian/Thai/Vietnamese restaurant. I asked for "native Thai" and was told they have a scale of 1-5. Without hesitation, I said "5, I like it hot!"
Server: Have you ever had the hottest here?
Me: I've had the hottest everywhere.
Server: I'm just asking because they eat it really HOT here.
Me: I'm good. I can take it.
Vivek: Trust her, she likes hot.
It was FREAKING HOT!!! I was sweating and my mouth was on fire.
I wanted to tell the server before I left but didn't get the chance, "Remember my face because you will see me here again. That was perfect!" Lucky for me, it's about a mile and half from my office and the pad kee mao was only $6.50. Beats a McDonald's value meal any day!
Most recent “leftover” post: Oh dear God! Halfway through my King Market leftovers I was praying for death. Then I hit that point where the pain dissipated and it became pure pleasure.
If you like HOT food, be prepared to suffer a little…
And when you’re done, shop in the market.
Directions: I-24 SE to Haywood Lane. Exit left and it in the shopping center beside Walgreens. You can cut through Walgreens shopping center (if you're bold) or turn left at the light on Antioch Pike and it is in the Dollar General shopping center.
