Nashville Greek Festival

It’s that time of the year again. Mark your calendars!!!

This is one of two annual events that I have looked forward to every year for the past 6-7 years that I have been going. There is nothing on this Earth like the hospitality of Greeks. Every year, I feel like I am coming “home” to great food and great entertainment. One year, my Mustang got stuck in the mud on the church front lawn where I had parked, about a half dozen teenage boys rushed to help and pushed my car out. I will never own another rear wheel drive car again…

This event is unlimited! Even if you don’t show up, or come at a different day/time, you won’t be marked as a “no show”. I am posting the day/time I plan to be there if you’d like to join me and others. This year we will be doing an evening Meetup to beat the heat (hopefully). Let’s eat, drink, dance, and shop under the stars!! There will be a cash bar (bring cash) serving wine, beer, and Ouzo (of course). Be sure to snag some pastries to take home to friends and coworkers (assuming you like them that much).

There are also tours offered of the amazing Greek Orthodox Church if you like. Check the website for times and schedule your stay accordingly. The Church has, in the past, been very open to picture taking inside.

Website: http://nashvillegreekfestival.com/

Location: Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4905 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220

Directions: Exit #74B off I-65, Old Hickory Blvd to Franklin Pike. Turn left on Franklin Pike. The Church is about a mile or so on the right. Police/security will be directing traffic so you shouldn’t miss it.

Dates: September 5-7 , 2014
Times: 10am – 9pm Friday & Saturday, 11am – 6pm Sunday
Tickets: Adults $3; Children 12 & under FREE

Amenities
Free parking for all guests
Free shuttle service (check their website)
ATMs for cash-only vendors

Last year’s event was a great success, but it could be even better this year … with YOU! If you have not attended the Festival before, we invite you to come out and learn about the true mean of what we call “Kefi!”

“How do I know if the Nashville Greek Festival is for me?” Simple. Do you like to dance? Do you like to eat? Do you like to have a good time with family and friends, old and new? Then this is where you belong!

OPA!

I had the Pastichio- sort of a Greek-style lasagna. I really liked the cinnamon spices. Could have had a tad more béchamel sauce for my taste, but overall really good.

I had the moussaka, also with the béchamel sauce. It was a little saltier than usual but I know the church community cooks it so it will be different tomorrow. It's still the best moussaka in Nashville.

No worries, Pat! This is an open event and we aren't tracking attendance. Maybe you can go on Sat or Sun or depending on what part of town you live in, I can fetch you and drive you home. I live in South Nashville.

In the past, I've taken at least 1/2 of Friday off so I can get there, load up, and chill out. Before the great hordes arrive! (insert evil laugh here: "hahahahaha!)
