Oh, hopefully this is going to bring back some great memories of my visit to Maui a few years back. But enough about me, we’ll be going to Omni Hut in Smyrna for Polynesian food and to celebrate Meetup member Taneka’s birthday. She has recommended this place to me twice and when better to try it out than now and help her celebrate another year older, younger, or in my case just refusing to age at all.
I’ll be honest, I only first heard of this place about 3-4 years ago even though it has been serving up Polynesian style foods for over 50 years (even getting a nod in The Chicago Sun Times). Their FB ratings reviews are through the roof. I am keeping at a group of 12 until I can confirm how many I can bring. I do know they take groups since a friend has his birthday celebration her a couple years ago. I’m still wondering why I have been holding out on this place.
If you live/work in Antioch, Smyrna or LaVergne, this event should be a no-brainer. For those further away, I have scheduled a 6:30p Meetup time to allow time to get there.
About Omni Hut & Its Founder:
The Omni Hut was established in 1960. While traveling over a million miles as an Air Force pilot, I continuously pursued my hobby of Poly-Asian cookery. Good food , good chefs and good recipes have always intrigued me. In Alaska, they say "gold is where you find it!" Good food, like gold, is where you find it! My recipes have come from many small obscure, owner operated restaurants, from friends -from Hong Kong to Panama, from Hawaii to Alaska. The adventure of seeking out better recipes and palatable dishes continues.
