Tour of Achadinha Cheese Company

  • This location is shown only to members

On Sunday, August 17 we have planned a tour of Achadinha (Osh-a-deen-a) Cheese Company in Petaluma. The tour begins at 11:00 a.m. and will last about an hour and a half. Most of the time will be spent inside the cheese plant where they will explain their processes and answer questions. This is a family run operation headed by Jim and Donna Pacheco and their 4 children.

They have a herd of goats and make 4 different cheeses: Capricious - an award winning aged goat cheese, Broncha - a Portuguese table cheese made from a blend of goat and Jersey cow milks, a fresh goat Feta and fresh cheese curds.

The tour is limited to 25 people so sign up as soon as you can.

There is a $12 fee for this tour which Must be Prepaid by August 1st.  You can either mail or drop off your check made out to Wheyward Bound at 1845 Piner Rd Suite D, Santa Rosa, CA 95403 or pay by cash or check at the July meeting.

A special day with perfect weather and a fabulous tour led by Donna's daughter Elizabeth with support from her younger brother and father. We toured the creamery and aging room and the milking barn and all the goat and cow barns. -Over 300 goats and 40 cows if I remember correctly. Plus the bonuses of holding a baby goat and tasting the Achadinha cheeses. Hope everyone had as good a time as I did. Sorry more of the group couldn't make it. Hope you are getting a chance to make some cheese this summer.
