Wheyward Bound Cheesemaking Club of Sonoma County Message Board › Steering Committee Meeting held Wednesday

Dear fellow Wheyward Bound Members,
Our meeting last night was attended by Gabe, Nancy, Joe, Shelley and Kathy. Several of the other members of the leadership team were out of town.
The treasurers report included a total of funds and the dispersments for 2012 which have mainly been to pay for speakers or tours. Funds are at $1041, and planned debits include Janet Fletcher's fee of $200.
Our business discussion concerned how to facilitate new Meetup visitors to pay dues and join the club with a modern method for paying dues such as PayPal. Because the club is healthy and comfortable with 57 members, we decided to hold off on trying Paypal and see what happens if we just rewrite the letter we send to possible members. Gabe and Nancy will rework the Welcome page to invite non-members to attend a meeting and see the club before requiring dues.
The second topic of dues involves what to do when people want to join late in the year and prorate their dues. It was determined best to leave dues in full until the last quarter of the year October and later dues paid will be applied to the last quarter and to the following year. Gabe and Kathy will work on that.
There will not be an August meeting. However, Mary Karlin will be teaching a class at Fork the culinary center at Pt. Reyes Creamery. You can see information about that course at Mary's website: elementsoftaste.com.
Sept: We would like to arrange a tour (or tours if attendance is limited) to Ramini Mozzarella, the buffalo farm and creamery. Nancy will work on this. Here is a link to his blog page. http://agandculture.b...
Oct: We are making arrangements with our award winning home cheese maker Monti Derby to teach a cheese making class for the members. Maybe his Tomme. Details and times will be announced in a few weeks.
Nov: We are planning to have a meeting where members will demonstrate "Easy Cheeses". Examples including cottage cheese, cream cheese, creme fraiche, etc. When the date is announced, please volunteer your service to talk about your method while serving a sample of your cheese. This class was a huge hit a year ago, especially when the cheese was utilized or paired with other foods.
Dec: Holiday party. If nobody else volunteers, Kathy and Bill will repeat as hosts.
