Book Launch: The Kings County Distillery Guide to Urban Moonshining

Hi Whiskey Lovers,

There is a book launch taking place on 23rd of October. If you are planning to come, please RSVP here: [masked]

About the book:
Colin Spoelman, a former rooftop moonshiner from Kentucky, and David Haskell, the great-grandson of a Prohibition-era bootlegger from New York, founded Kings County Distillery in the Brooklyn Navy Yard in 2010 to make small-scale batches of moonshine, bourbon, and other whiskeys. Their new book covers whiskey’s history and culture from 1640 to today, and includes a detailed, easy-to-follow guide to safe home distilling, as well as a guide to the contemporary whiskey scene.

Hi Tiffany. This is the informal gathering - the 'official' meet-up is on Saturday. Unfortunately I would not be able to attend the event, but feel free to coordinate with other members via the wall.

Thanks. I probably won't back it on Saturday since I will be traveling back to the city that evening. I hope to catch the group soon.

Is there something we need to read before attending?

    • Anna

Hi Jeff! No - no need to read anything. The author will be presenting his book at powerHouse Arena. Usually it's a 30 min presentation followed by QA. It's not a regular meet-up - just an event forward :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
