Shenandoah NP - Old Rag Mtn - 8 mile/2,500 foot elevation gain hike!

  • This location is shown only to members

  • Old Rag Mountain is one of the most popular hikes in Shenandoah National Park, with a challenging (but really fun!) 1 mile rock scramble before you reach the peak. The views are spectacular!!! I've done this hike numerous times, and usually takes about 5 hours.

Carpool meet up will be at 8:00 am at the Centreville Park and Ride at the corner of Stone Road and Route 29. We will depart for the Old Rag Parking lot at 8:15 am. If you will not be meeting at the Centreville Park and Ride, please arrive at the Old Rag Parking Lot no later than 10:00 am. I will provide my cell phone the day before the hike.

    Good morning everyone,
I hope you received the email I sent out last night, explaining why I am going to post-pone this hike. Let me know if you have any questions. I will start organizing hikes again in June. - Tino

Alberto, weather looks pretty iffy for Saturday, and I need a few weeks to re-energize.

    Hello, hello to all.
Severin and I are coming from DC and would much appreciate if we could get a ride with someone else - rather than renting a car. We are very flexible can meet at almost any metro station and would of course take care of the gas tank.

Hi all. I have a medical problem in a leg so I'm not sure if I will be able to hike.
So, I propose you guys to have a plan B in case I can't go.
Tino, could you guys organize the carpooling from Vienna metro so Charles, Theresa and Severino can join you there?
Thanks and apologies for the inconvenience, I was ok two days ago but... (I spare you the details, it's painful...)

Sorry for being out of the last few. I've been busy with the move. But by then, I should be free again! I'd love to come, albeit would need to be picked up at a metro if anyone is going by one. Let me know. Thanks, charles
