What is DFW Unschooling All About?
Our colorful group of unschooling parents, grandparents, teens, and children of all ages converge in both Dallas and Ft. Worth (and elsewhere in the metroplex) for personal connections, lots of play, and thought-provoking discussion. Group organizers cover Meetup operating expenses. This permits folks curious about unschooling or investigating homeschooling to mingle with our community.
If you want more information about Unschooling, check out our list of resources on our Meetup group's pages.
No dues or fees are required. You may attend meetups as often or as infrequently as fits your schedule and/or the needs of your family. However, we ask that you show up when you RSVP "yes" to a meetup. If you can't attend, we ask that you update your RSVP or leave a comment if you are running especially late. That way no one is wasting time trying to hunt down someone who never showed up.
Where Can I Meet You?
Meetups are held in Dallas, Plano, Ft. Worth, and Arlington.
Group organizers are responsible for scheduling Meetups. Meetup locations generally include area museums, recreation centers, and local parks. Organizers select public meeting places (no private residences) at locations and dates most practical/convenient for those who regularly attend.
How Often Do You Meet?
Often! Generally, mamy times a week and on weekends occasionally. The majority of Meetups occur at 11am or later: in our experience it is difficult for unschoolers to convene before noon. Furthermore, most museums host school groups in the morning or early afternoon so we arrive by late afternoon to avoid big crowds.
How Can I Contact You?
Contact the organizers (Julie or Amy) using the email link in the toolbar. Feel free to send us your questions, suggestions, Meetup ideas, and feedback.
Our Meetup group has many members and a long tradition of connecting like-minded families. We have found much happiness on this journey of unschooling. We invite you to join us!
