Feeding children what’s best for their development is a challenge at all ages!
And whether you (or your wife) are pregnant or have a newborn, preschooler or school-age child, the issues never stay the same.
So, on October 19th, we will try to cover it all. Health Educator Sharon New from Annapolis will give us a talk on the special nutritional needs for healthy child development. In the second half of the program, we will break into small groups to discuss “tips and tricks” for dealing with picky eaters, changing “bad” habits, supplementing with baby formula, coping with lunches offered by schools, or whatever your special issues are.
Sharon New, MS, is a food and health educator from Annapolis who teaches and works with private clients in the mid-Atlantic area. She spoke to our group on adrenal health last July. Her talk was so well received that we have arranged for her to give this second talk. You won’t be disappointed!
Introducing her will be Heather Metz. Heather has been facilitating the Meetup’s Parent Nutrition Support Group since its inception in February 2012. She is trained in nutrition, is raising three girls, and is a member of Real Food for Kids, a parent activist group working to improve school lunches in the Fairfax school system. Heather will be coordinating the small group discussions during the second half of our program.
As always, we will have a side table with yummy snacks of meat, cheese, veggies, nuts and other goodies, supplied by MOM's Organic Market, located in the Kmart shopping center on Elden Street in Herndon.
We will also have fresh, raw milk samples supplied by Golden Valley Farm.
There is a nominal charge of $10 per family, so bring your spouse! Child care will be provided. Pay at the door.
If you have questions or need additional information, you can email Sharon or Heather directly through the website.
