Free Culture Alliance NYC

Free Culture Alliance NYC is an informal umbrella group of local organizations with an interest in the Free Culture movement, Open Education, and related developments at the boundaries of technology, culture, community, and the commons.

The next Free Culture Alliance NYC meeting will be held on Tuesday May 15 at 8 PM at the Central Bar (109 E 9 St), in conjunction with the FIGMENT participatory arts meet & greet and a focus on our Wiki World's Fair planning with them.

There will be a pre-meeting hangout at the NYU ITP Spring Show that evening (721 Boadway), and we'll walk together from there to the nearby Central Bar at 8 PM :)

There should be folks from Students for Free Culture, the Internet Society-NY, Wikimedia NYC and other like-minded movements attending.

What a well-intentioned and productive group! I am astounded by the quality of this community. These truly are dedicated free culture and open access enthusiasts.

I was tardy and consequently couldn't find the group at the bar, I'm sure it was great and I'll be on time next time.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
