Wild Edible and Medicinal Plant Walk ($20) - last one of the season!

  • Oct 26, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Come out and discover the incredible uses of our Flora, and enjoy a relaxing walk in Nature! We will be going slowly, stopping to observe the plants that grow naturally in our environment, including introduced and native species, and learning about how to use them in our daily lives. You will be amazed at how useful and abundant our Flora is! These plants not only have incredible culinary qualities, but they are super-foods as well! Not to mention the fact that they can help you save on your grocery bill… The best way to learn to recognize plants is to see them several times during their growing season. Come out and experience these unique and useful workshops – you won’t regret it!

Note: This workshop is being led by Sarah Murray, who has taught the edible and medicinal uses of plants in Europe and the US for the past 30 years. Her former husband, François Couplan, is the author of the Encyclopedia of the Edible Plants of North America. She was one of the first women in Europe (1980's) to lead "soft" survival trips, where wild plants made up 100% of the harvest (no animals) in week-long and 2-week-long treks into nature.

Bring: A notebook and pen, camera, or however you can best take notes, and some water (and a snack, if needed). Dress accordingly for weather. Fee: $20. Contact: Sarah Murray (302)[masked] or email [masked]. See also

It's about 45 min. from Philly, more or less, depending on where you are.

Thank you, Bill! Just so you know, this workshop will be done in 2 days, Saturday being the "identification and utilization" part of it, and Sunday will be the "forage and feast". Last time we did it all in one day because of a schedule mixup, but this time we'll have the opportunity to study a little more on Saturday, then forage and feast on Sunday! I look forward to seeing you and Lamont again!

Hi Sarah, I would honored to be in your company! My friend Lamont and I had such a great experience with you on your Forage and Feast tour a couple of weeks ago. It was unbelievable that you made a 4 course, yummy meal from the "weeds" we picked. Can't wait to see what you come up with this time.
