Rancocas Creek - Forage On...

This foray will comprise one leg our Summer forage.  We will start with an orientation at my yard in Mount Holly.  We can opt for a stop by the Rancocas Nature Center for any guides you may need before we head north along the Rancocas Creek to Amico Island.  What I anticipate finding along the way: wineberries, wild violet, wood sorrell, lambs quarters, plantain, spiderwort, thistle.  There will be more, so let's look for it!!!.

I look forward to seeing you all again, so let's have at it!!!

    Joe,
Thanks for all the good info--it was nice to meet you and Margaret, and it was a lovely day for a walk on the "beach!"

Good day for a walk in the weeds! So we found wood sorrel, lambs quarters, blackberry, raspberry, wineberry, mile-a-minute... Mulberries weren't ready yet, though (!)

Joe- Sorry to change the RSVP since I was looking forward to this but I severely aggravated an old injury this morning and will not be able to make the trip. I will look forward to another time- sorry for the late notice.

There is interest building in a June 21 forage at 0900 with the main intent being a survey of Amico Island at the junction of the Delaware River near Delran, NJ. Starting point my yard for orientation and gear check. As before, my cell is[masked], email [masked] for coordinating instructions.
    Thanks again, ALL

Hey Joe, doubt I can make it at 9AM, but I might try to join in the early afternoon if you're still out and about! Assume I can't make it, but I'll call if I'm looking for ya!

From the survey we conducted yesterday, May 31, there are wild violet, wood sorrel, lambs quarters, cress, clover and garlic out and edible now. Wild raspberry, blackberry and cherry fruits are set but not ripe yet... Saw may apple too but note conflicting information online on edibility of the fruit ...

This was a great time. I learned a bunch, and I can't wait to come back to Rancocas Creek Basin. Thanks Joe!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
