Winter Survival Skills

Hello Everyone,

Winter is upon us and it is time to shake off the cold with some Winter Wilderness Skills! This will be a day trip that includes the four essentials (food, water shelter, and fire), as well as some other skills: winter shelters, fire-by-friction, wild edibles, and finding and cleaning water, as well as making containers, primitive hunting tools/techniques and games. Bring everything that makes you comfortable as well as a cup for tea.

We will all meet in the parking lot at Boulder Canyon Road and Magnolia Road at 7:30 and drive up (or carpool if you like).

Had a great time learning and practicing important wilderness skills. Andrew is an excellent teacher.

So, two messages below says to meet at Gross Lake Res. parking lot at 8:30. This is false. We will meet there at 8 (or just shortly after).

Is the Magnolia parking lot the mapped link above? I'm new to the area.

If you are coming from south of Canyon Rd., or if you have already been to Gross Lake Res, it is fine to meet at the parking lot near Arapahoe National Forest at 8:30. Otherwise, meet in the parking lot off of Magnolia Rd.

If we are coming alone or meeting you, are meeting at Gross lake? The reasons I am asking is that the lake is on the Flagstaff side of co rd 68, not the Boulder canyon side.

So the Winter Survival Skills Event is official! I know that some of you already RSVP'd before the event was official, so please consider if you can make it or not so we can have an accurate number. If you would like to come, but the RSVP list happens to be full, please send me an email. We can probably make it happen. I also wanted to point out that I will be charging $20 per person. I hope you understand that I am super excited about this event and that I am preparing, researching and practicing hard to make sure it is worth it for everyone. Let me know if you have any further questions.

I love Winter and miss it from MN, as out front range Winters have been lacking at best.

I look forward to this. Winter survival is something I've wanted to get more experience with. Either date is good for me, although the 15th would be slightly better. I assume you'll send out a list of supplies we would need to bring as well?

    Hey Everyone,
The cat is out of the bag. I am going to be intensifying classes now that my schedule is changing. I have been working on multiple drafts to get the words just right, but there is going to be an e-mail sent about the direction I would like to take this class.
I have been getting lots of requests for winter survival classes and I have been practicing and researching in order to get at least one survival skills class per month. I have also been planning a series of basic classes for building your own bow. If I push the Bow classes to January, would everyone be comfortable with a Winter Survival Skills class on the 8th or 15th of December? Everyone let me know what you think. You have my attention.
