Ladybugs & Waterfalls (Maybe)

If this looks familure, I am using text from last years trip by the Bay Area Photography group. This is a beautiful park to visit. You never know when the ladybugs come out of hibernation and the waterfalls may be small if it does not rain. So do your rain dances and lets have some fun.

Ladybugs hibernate and one of their chosen locations is Uvas Canyon in Morgan Hill. This is going to be approximately 2 mile hike with some incline but it's not too bad. Additionally there are several waterfalls along the trail which should be flowing nicely with the rains we have had. I can not guarantee that the Ladybugs will be there when we go but last year was fantastic. Hope for cool weather because they are hibernating and if the weather gets to warm they my leave. Plan to meet in the main parking lot at 10:30am.

Rain will canel this Meetup

I will be leaving the Raleys Shopping Center at 3330 North Texas Street in Fairfield at 8am if anyone would like to follow.

I just can't believe I was so close my entire life and never knew about this place to photograph. Now I live in AZ and there is no water here...at least currently! I'm so disappointed. You guys did shoot some great waterfall and ladybug photos!

I would like to say thank you for a great day, and thank you to the gentleman who moved his car over enough so I could park. You are all a great group to hang out with. Thank you Dennis, I had a wonderfully exhausting day.

I uploaded a few photos of the ladybugs I took with my cellphone (HTC one) which has a fairly good macro mode. I can see I am in need of a macro lens in the[masked]mm range.

Hi Dennis, I was there this past weekend, had never been here before. this place is spectacular, however it rained while I was there. You can spend all day here. Parking can become an issue, I'd suggest carpool if you can.

What a coincidence… my wife and I went there early Nov. We were the only ones there. Water flows were low but the falls and the fall colors were still nice and did see some lady bugs on top of some of the trail sign posts.Would be much better in the spring… that is if it ever decides to rain again. Didn't take my tripod… huge mistake… low light conditions. Best if you can set shutter speed for it (if you don't forget your tripod) or have a bright f2.8 lens. Regrettably had to resort to flash in some instances. I am gonna try and make this trip. Again.
