A day spent enjoying the wide open beaches of the Oregon Coast. Beachcombing, sight seeing, photography, and simply enjoying the sand between the toes.
When: February 1st. Most of the day. Projected return is estimated at 4:00PM.
Where: The beach in Florence, near Driftwood Shores.
Who: Members of Willamette Valley Outdoors. Members that wish to attend must complete the full RSVP questionnaire, especially in regards to the understanding of the trip and waiver of liability. Anyone that does not follow the directions of the RSVP can be subject to removal from the trip.
Meeting: Target, on West 11th, near Beltline. We will meet at 8:30AM, select drivers, set up carpools, and be on our way as quickly as possible. Please be prompt, as we will be leaving prior to 9:00AM.
Details: We will head towards the coast from Target, shortly before 9:00AM. We will take HWY 126 to Florence, and follow directions to a small parking lot next to Driftwood Shores, a well known hotel in Florence. I plan on exploring the beach for awhile, getting in a good amount of walking, pictures, and hopefully some beach treasures. Once back to our vehicles, we will head to Old Town Florence for some sight seeing and enjoy the local shops, possibly grabbing coffee, salt water taffy, or even ice cream. There are a few restaurants along that area that would be great for a late lunch. I would prefer a place that can easily accommodate our size of group. Also, a place that is affordable for those attending. What To Bring: Small backpack with a jacket, wind breaker, some snacks, water, cash for the drivers, and some money for food afterwards. Possible a change of shoes, and a bag of some kind for sandy items. Also, a willingness to go with the flow and an adventurous attitude.
Rules, Regulations and Fees: Please no dogs, alcohol, or weapons. We will need a few drivers to be willing to drive in order for all of us to enjoy this trip. This trip is about 140 miles round trip, so please be willing to pay the drivers on a sliding scale of $10 to $15 per person. Thank you for the understanding of the set rules for the trip.
