An 8.0 mile hike near Westfir, with a rocky viewpoint to enjoy. The trail gains 2400' of elevation. The trail has some steep sections and is rated as moderate to difficult.
Details: I plan on leaving Best Buy shortly after 8:00AM, so please be on time and ready to go. We will carpool up to the Middle Fork Ranger Station, near Westfir, and start our hike from there. There is a trailhead close by, but the parking lot at the Ranger Station will be more suitable. From there we will hike up Deception Butte as it heads towards Deception Creek and then up. Once at the top, we will enjoy what views may be available, a lunch and some photos. We will then hike back down the way we came. A stop afterwards in Oakridge is possible, and we can discuss that when we set up carpooling in the morning.
Directions: Drive south on I-5 from Best Buy, and take exit 188A for Oakridge. Follow HWY 58 to the Middle Fork Ranger Station, near Westfir. The Ranger Station is located on the right. The trailhead is located along Deception Creek Road 5850 about 0.1 of a mile.
Fees and Regulations: There is no known parking fee at the trailhead or the Ranger Station. Please bring cash for drivers to help with gas. Generous contributions to the drivers for getting us all to and from the trails is greatly appreciated.
Please dress accordingly for summer weather, and bring at least two liters of water and a lunch. Pack your ten essentials with you and always be prepared. Any member that I feel is not prepared for the hike will be asked not to attend. Leader's decision is final.

Dogs are welcomed, and must be on leash no longer than 6 feet. Owners are responsible for picking up after their dog, having adequate food and water for their dog, and making sure others are comfortable around with the dog in their presence. If I feel there is any problems along the way, I will address the person. Every hike is to be enjoyed by all that attend, and I intend to do my best to make sure everyone has a great experience.
