A scenic trail with spectacular views of a popular waterfall. Bring your camera for this one.
Trail Info: There are a few different trails to enjoy. The two that we are going to be doing are a 1.2 mile loop to the campground bridge, that has only 30' of elevation gain. The other hike is to Green Peak Falls, which is a 2.8 mile out and back, that has 400' of elevation gain. There are other trails as well, if time allows.
Details: We will meet at Putters, along Highway 99, in West Eugene before 7:00AM. We will set up carpooling and leave shortly after 7:00AM. Please be on time, as I don't like to wait for people that show up after the time we are expecting to leave. From Putters we will head up Highway 99, through Junction city and Monroe, and take the road to Alsea Falls. I plan on getting in some hiking, take some pictures, and a lunch near the falls.
Driving Directions: Take Highway 99 north through Junction City, and keep left at the junction. Follow the highway through Monroe and turn left at a sign for Alpine. Follow signs for Alsea Falls 13.2 miles on paved road, then turn right into the park's picnic area. Park at the far end of the loop.
Fees and Regulations: A small fee of $4 is required at the park. Please bring a few bucks to help chip in to the drivers, both for the fee, and for gas. Thanks.
Please bring a small backpack, water for the hike, a snack lunch, and dress appropriately for a early fall hike near waterfalls. Dress in layers and wear hiking boots or trail shoes with good traction.
Please, no dogs.
