A fun weekend of camping together on the Oregon Coast. Enjoy walks on the nearby beaches, a day hike, and s'mores around the campfire.
Sutton Lake is located just five miles north of Florence. A large campground, with open space to enjoy tossing a frisbee or football, easy walk along the creek to the beach, and so on.
I'm looking into renting a few spots at Sutton Lake Campgrounds, north of Florence. We would leave Eugene early Saturday morning around 10:00AM and meet at the campgrounds for those coming from other areas. After setting up camp we can do a day hike with a great view of the coastline. We should return in time for a potluck dinner. Sunday morning we can enjoy a good breakfast together then take a long walk together on the beach before returning to camp and taking things down for checkout. I expect us back in the evening on Sunday. Possibly stopping at Mo's in Florence for some seafood. I will add more details and information as I get them. We can pair up to split the fee of each campsite. As more people sign up, we can look into getting more campsites, or even the group site. Expect to split about $22 a night for camping. We have planned to do a potluck style dinner for Saturday night. Please bring some type of small main dish to share, or something to cook and share. Indicate in the comments what you plan to contribute.

I will be bringing a extra tent and two air mattresses to loan out. I also have a cooking stove, and some coolers, and chairs. I will bring enough food to contribute to a large country style breakfast for Sunday. Please let me know what you can contribute. Thanks.
Things near Sutton Lake: The actual lake is across the highway from the campground, but is accessible by a hiking trail along the creek. There is also a trail leading out to the beach from the campground. Florence and its gift shops and Old Town are just 5 miles south. We can do a day hike, go fly kites, explore along the lake, drive into Old Town, maybe even go rent a few sandboards from Sandmaster Park, to share. I have sandboarded before, and it is a lot of fun. It's like snowboarding on the sand, and it doesn't take any special boots or equipment. Just a good attitude and patience.
Hope to have a great weekend at the coast together!
