Come join us for a day in the snow.  Hoodoo offers a variety of terrain for downhill skiing and snowboarding, snow tubing, cross country skiing, along with miles of trails for snowshoeing.  So grab your skis, board, tube, snowshoes, and your friends and family, for a fun day enjoy the snow!

Hoodoo Ski Area sits on the summit of Oregon’s Santiam Pass and is Oregon’s most centrally located destination for winter sports enthusiasts. Just 44 miles west of Bend, 85 miles east of Eugene and 130 miles southeast of Portland, Hoodoo Ski Area offers more than 800 acres of terrain, 32 runs, five lifts and one of the largest tubing parks in the West. Founded in 1938, Hoodoo is Central Oregon’s original ski area and your destination for family friendly winter fun in your backyard!

We will meet at Best Buy on Saturday morning at 7:00AM and carpool up to the mountain. For those needing skis or a snowboard, the best place in town to rent from is Berg's. Located on 13th, they have been in the business for years and offer great deals and customer service.

Contact: Matt Howell - (541)[masked]

Hoodoo offers discounted passes for half day (1PM - 4PM), along with Nordic skiing at just $14 for the day.  Hoodoo opens at 9AM, hence the early meeting time in Eugene.  It will allow us enough travel time and time to deal with getting our passes and all.

Hope to see you on the mountain.

A lot of fun and sunshine. I enjoyed some snowboarding before heading over to the tubing hill. Amazing weather and great conditions. Thanks for a great day together in the snow.

Anyone else interested in a day of playing in the snow? Try some tubing? Snowshoe or cross country ski for the day? Enjoy the slopes for some snowboarding and downhill skiing?

I'm in if some more people are xc skiing.

I'm not sure if others are planning to ski or not. I will try and spread the word a bit more and see if othes decide to come.

I really want to come and bring my snowboard, but will have to check the powder levels. I'm still just learning.

    Will anyone be snowshoeing?

    March 2, 2013

    • Matthew H.

I'm kind of waiting to see what the weather looks like that weekend before I decide. I will take my snowshoes either way, but I may just ride the snow tubes for the day.

I just joined your group and am hoping to join you all on up coming meet ups. I am part of Hiking in Oregon Meet Up. I just posted a meet up on our page for the same date as you guys without knowing your date for Hoodoo. Ours is for tubing, skiing and snowboarding. I think that is awesome, our two groups can unite. I read a comment from Andrea that she does not ski or snow board. Since our group is including snow tubing at the Autobahn at Hoodoo too, all your members that want to go and do tubing, can join us there.

      I'm considering it, pending transportation.

Maybe coordinate with either Brian Briggs or Pete, who are both coming, and live in the Corvallis area. You might be able to carpool and split the gas.

For those that do not ski or snowboard, there will also be snow tubing, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing available. Come enjoy a day in the snow, and also meet some members from Hiking in Oregon, an outdoor group from the Albany area. Information about the tubing hill and lift ticket prices are available through the Hoodoo link provided in the write up above. I have also provided rental information for outdoor gear in our "Discussions" tab, under "Message Board". Scroll down to "Rentals" for information from REI and Berg's, both located in Eugene.

I already signed up for a weekend fishing trip. Maybe next time.

Is it more than $14 for a full-day of skiing or snowboarding then? Also does anyone know if places actually rent snow gear such as pants and jacket and all?

    January 13, 2013

    • Matthew H.

Yes, downhill skiing and snowboarding cost $45. Nordic skiing, also known as cross country skiing is only $14. I don't know of any places that rent the clothing needed though.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
