I used to ski quite a bit, and I'd love to again, but hiking is easy, cheap and satisfying!
It's been long enough that I don't have any true favorites anymore, though I walk often on local trails like at Mt. Pisgah, Elijah Bristow Park, etc. I was down at Three-Mile Lake a few years ago, and that was beautiful. I hiked up Mt. Fuji just over a year ago, and the view was unbelievable.
The last place that I camped was at Sutton Campground, near Florence.
My boots are probably my favorite piece of outdoor equipment, because they'll take me anywhere. My senses, too, because if I couldn't see, smell or hear the flowers, birds and other wildlife, there wouldn't be much point to anything else.
Easy hikes to get in shape, graduating to longer and more difficult ones. It's hard to say, because I haven't seen enough of what you already do.
I'm an Oregon native and love to be outside in the woods. Growing up, I hiked and climbed with my father; since living in Eugene I haven't been out nearly enough. I hope to remedy that!
