Platt Lane/Hornsby Bend Field Trip

We will meet-up at 7:00 at the Center for Environmental Research (CER) at the main entrance to the Hornsby Bend Property and will then do a short carpool to the the Platt Lane section of the Hornsby Bend property. Expect to walk approximately 2.5 miles, so bring snacks and water. We will be looking for resident woodland birds and spring migrants. We will then return to the Center for Environmental Research and tour the property for waterfowl and wetland species.

Even tho Platt must waitt, I thought we got into some good boids at Hornsby Bend WTP---esp. the HUGE(!) flock of Wilson's Phalaropes swimmin' amerrily, a Tree Swallow with the Cliff Swallows (at least Cindy and I saw it), Yellow-headed Blackbirds, and Eared Grebes. (Also: Saw a black 'n white warbler at Webberville Park.)

The Platt Lane walk should last about two hours. There is an option of driving the loop at Hornsby for those who want to.

    Question from laura:
please let the leader know that we will be late. as i understand from the notice, you are meeting at the main bldg and then will be car pooling to platt lane. so we will go directly to platt lane and get on the trail there. hopefully by 7:30 -7:45. will that work ok? the trail is pretty straightforward at the beginning .. are you going to stay on the main path at least for a while.. i dont know the side trails but i know the main path goes pretty far before it forks. thanks, laura

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
