Website Reviews at the Wilmington SEO Meetup

After some delay, we have finally settled on a date, and hopefully a place (Internet Cafe off Racine) As far as the place, I will let everyone know soon! Keep in mind that we only have room for 20 people for this Meetup, so RSVP quickly!

As a result of our last Meetup, this Meetup will focus on reviewing three websites from a very experienced panel of 4. Ty Downing (Me) will be the moderator of this panel, and will comprise of the following internet marketing, web design pros;

Richard Perry - Akira Media, Web designer in Wilmington,NC
Megan Criss - Wilmington SEO, Search Engine Optimization Company
Jayson Conway - Internet Marketing
Ty Downing - Perspective Internet Marketing, Wilmington, NC

What will happen this evening?

Since this is primarily a networking function, we will introduce ourselves, and get acquainted first so bring your business cards and ideas! Next we will jump into the reviews of 3 web sites randomly chosen in advance. (Only way to be fair) Website reviews are always popular, so we ask that you RSVP, and submit your site to us by the RSVP date, then we will randomly select the sites, and inform the fortunate site owners about a week before the Meetup. This will give the panel time to come up with one, two maybe three tips to help your site get traffic, site structure, or improve site "Stickiness."

We plan on having an overhead & screen for all to see the website being considered, but please bring your laptops just in case. (By the way, we need a screen and and projector if anyone has one!!!!)

How do you get your website in the 'hat' to review?

  • Reply and submit your website to the group
  • Hope and pray your site gets selected out of the hat!

Hope all can make it!

Very informative Meetup, a great turn out and your SEO panel covered all the bases with constructive suggestions for the websites. Great visual for learning too.
The only negative was the noise factor, but I thought the group size was perfect. Very lively group with lots of imput and questions,.... I'm certainly looking forward to the next Meetup.
    Thanks to everyone....

Overall I think it was a success. The three sites that were reviewed received very good tips that all site owners took away. Special thanks to Megan, Richard, and Jason for a great job in sitting in on the panel.

Great meeting. I was lucky enough to have my site reviewed. I appreciate all the feedback from the panel and everyone that spoke to me afterwards. It was nice to meet everyone and I look forward to the next meeting.

The approach of using 3 websites from members to educate the group on SEO techniques worked great. The meetup was well organized and Ty and the 3 panelists are well informed on the topic. I am looking forward to the next meetup.

Excellent real-world analysis of websites currently in action attracting (increasingly more) business. Panel handled each critique with specific, useful suggestions, most of which was applicable to the rest of the group. The idea of website reviews (or hot seats) is a good one to repeat perhaps every third meeting. Specific topics about SEO, internet marketing, etc., with a panel and questions from the audience would also be a great way to educate this group.

This Meetup was time well spent. The turnout was impressive and the panel members were knowledgeable. Also, the length of the Meetup was good too...not too short not too long. I will definitely be attending the next Meetup. A mic or quieter place may be beneficial next time.

I'm not an SEO professional or web designer but I really enjoyed myself and learned so much in such a short time. Ty and "the panel" were a joy, not to mention impressive. I'll be spending much of the weekend working on our website using the tips and tricks they offered. (Wonder if I should be thanking them for that... :-) Everyone was professional and VERY welcoming. I look forward to future Meetups so sign me up! Thanks so much everyone!
