JULY Wilmington Writers Group meeting - TBA

Monday, July 14, 2014 - 7 pm

Who is your main character?  When someone asks that question, they are intrigued by a vividly written character, not one who is cardboard with very few details.  Many award winning books contain likeable characters who have good internal and external conflict. Judy will discuss some things you can do to strengthen your own character development.

Judy Di Canio is a Creative Writing instructor and an award winning published author. She enjoys assisting writers of all levels of expertise to improve their writing. Judy is past president of  the Futuristic, Fantasy & Paranormal chapter of RWA and past president/co-founder of the Valley Forge Romance Writers of America chapter. She taught at college and at national writing conferences across the country. Judy works with beginning writers as well as multi-published authors who might need help with editing, the craft of writing or strengthening their writer’s tools. You can visit her website at

Our meeting place is now Red Robin in north Wilmington, north of the Concord Mall on Rt 202. The address is 6100 Brandywine Parkway, Wilmington, DE between the Target and the water fountain lake. The meeting officially starts at 7:00 pm but many of us come early (around 6:30 pm) to eat and socialize a bit - but you can order your meal at any time during the meeting. They are seating us in an area which should be good for creating a closeness and offer us some seclusion.

Just a reminder that you can order a scrumptious meal at Red Robin off their extensive menu. We don't get charged for the great room, but Red Robin does have the expectation that attendees will order a meal. It is a fair expectation and the meals are reasonably priced. IF you have special dietary needs, the manager has agreed to create some vegetarian friendly meals with some advance notice. If you would like this, please call and make arrangements at least a day in advance.

Mark your calendar for every second Monday of the month. Feel free to tell others and bring a friend or two.

This is a membership group. After you attend and try us out, we ask that if you find the group of value and want to continue, you help with the costs of running the group. The costs of the group include the fee we pay for meetup, the web site hosting and buying meals for guest speakers, handouts, fliers, etc. YOUR FIRST MEETING IS FREE AND A TRIAL TO SEE IF YOU FIND IT A FIT!

This is a sister group of the Main Line Writers Group, held the third Wednesday of the month in King of Prussia. you can check it out and see what people think of it!

We are all looking forward to seeing you!

As usual, any questions, please contact me, Gary Zenker, at[masked] or [masked]. We are all looking forward to seeing you there.

Hi, the next meet up on Monday June 9th will be my first time meeting this writing group and don't know what to expect. I am a little rusty as I haven't written in several years. Do I need to bring something I've written?

No need to bring any written pieces if you don't want to. Bring your brain and a pen. Critiquing work from others will help sand away the rust. Looking forward to your attending!
