Once on Lowell Farm Rd, follow the state boat launch signs to a small gravel parking area. This site is a hand-launch facility at the South end of the lake in a marshy setting. To the left, there is a stream that leads to the dam at the outlet, about 1 and 1/2 mile round trip. To the right is the main body of Highland Lake. Most of the shoreline has cottages and year-round houses, but near the launch there is a much more natural environment.
I just got some good and important information regarding the directions I gave to the meetup on Highland lake: If you take the left at the Hawkes TV repairman onto Duck Pond Road you will find it's closed because of the bridge being replaced. You can access Duck Pond Road from Prides Corner on Rt 302 just about 2 miles south of the Hawkes TV repairman sign. Just a couple of hundred feet North of the Subway Sub shop It is called Elmwood Ave, but becomes Duck Pond Rd. In 2.1 miles, turn right onto Mast Rd. Follow directions from there as previously given. The other end of of Mast Rd intersects Blackstrap Rd in Falmouth.
