Paddle Thomas Pond, Raymond/Casco

The road is busy here, and the launch is primitive, but the paddle quickly takes us away from the noise of the traffic.  We can explore the outlet to the dam about 1/2 mile down stream, then paddle back under the bridge through a small pond, then into larger Thomas Pond. Paddling around the point to the right, we can explore the shoreline and go into a couple of secluded coves and around small islands the loop around and head back to the launch.  Should take a couple of hours.

11.2 miles and approx 11 minutes from the intersection of Rt 115 and 302 in N. Windham (Where Walgreens is)

Driving from the south, it would be better to drive past the site and turn around, so that you park off the southbound lane, headed south.

Beautiful evening, very pretty paddle--the pond is surprisingly big and was very serene. Saw ducks, loons and had a great blue heron fly over us. will miss the evening paddles, but look forward to longer paddles on sundays.

Bill, Kris and I won't be able to make it either! Something's come up at the last minute. If nothing else, this may make you drop offs go a little more smoothly. Sorry for such short notice. See you soon.

Sorry about the horse issues, Denise. No problem. I'm going to miss paddling this one too. Too many deliveries and pick ups today. I will be there at 5:15 to 5:30, and back at about 7:30, but I won't get to go paddling with the group. It's an easy paddle and I made maps for those who do go out.

I am going to try to come. I hope I can see the stop. I'll look for the kayak trailer.

This will be the last mid-week evening paddle for this season as there is less daylight in the evenings. We'll be scheduling Sunday afternoons from 8/25 to at least Columbus Day weekend. If the weather is still nice we can go later into October. Last year my last day out was 10/29.
