A story behind the event - Walk & Roll

Walk & Roll is this Sunday. Like every year, we will skate as a team to support the American Cancer Society.

This year we will dedicate our skate to Lawrence Francis, the father of our member Shirmel. Shirmel's father lost his battle against cancer earlier this year. Shirmel decided to do something very special for her father. During the last few months she has spent every free minute learning to skate to be able to participate in the 2010 Walk & Roll event. We have seen her making great progress and have seen her overcome her fears. From parking lots to skating a path to going downhill. Kudos Shirmel, this is not an easy thing to do and I am sure your dad is proud of you!

If you are still undecided if you should skate with us on Sunday please think about it again. If for nothing else, do it to support Shirmel. If you are a beginner skater, this will be ideal. You can stay with us in the back at a slow pace. The event is free and you can register at the event site the morning of the event. We ask you to make a small donation if you can. See you all on Sunday
