Hi again everyone,
Our picnic is coming up on this Friday and the logistics are coming together quite well, I think. Here are some key planning points:
However, we have several people who have RSVP’d “Yes” but have not signed up for a dish to bring and share yet. We still need some help in the food area, particularly with appetizers and desserts. You know who you are, so please volunteer to bring something by letting me know through this email address.
I have attached the food resource chart in its present form for your reference.
I forgot to mention in previous notes, but we are having barbecue chicken and pork as the main dish – from Firefly’s in Marlboro.
Our official start time is 6:30PM, and we would like you all to be prompt, but obviously everybody can’t arrive in the same minute, so please feel free to arrive starting at 6:00 so that we can get started with the greeting time and get going on the mystery wine judging at 6:30. We are planning to have tables set up for the appetizers, etc.
We are going to have six mystery wines to judge in a single “best in show”-type round. No pressure – and obviously not everyone will want to join in, but it will be fun to compare notes and see what wins out. After that, we’ll move to the serious eating and sipping.
We are going to pass the hat for the main course and the plates, water, ice, etc. Right now it looks like that cost will be something like $10 per person.
We have never had trouble with this – but just so everybody is careful – we are going to have lots of high potency wine at this event, so please be responsible with it.
