Secrets of the Sommeliers - A Classical Training Dinner in Wine Typicity

A grand wine dinner covering the great and classical wines of the world under proper guidance on an exciting blind-tasting... Note the final location change to the "Red Marlin" at the Mission Bay Hyatt. The wines served will be in the higher price range and will represent a typical varietal from each region. Lots of fun with 9 important red varietals. Each member covers $60 of the wine cost, plus a nice dinner at our private room in the spectacular Red Marlin. So you pay $60 plus dinner, which I will probably bring to $49 for a nice custom menu that fits our wine tasting.

This guided wine dinner will partially be based on the famous wine book "The Secrets of the Sommeliers". Session is led by Certified Wine Specialist Joey Kleinhans, CSW.

If you want to know how a typical session goes, here's a recent review article from Newport Beach

This was an extremely informative and fun outing. We had not done a blind tasting before and found it an excellent way to improve our knowledge. Joey did a great job of introducing us to these "Old World" classical wines. We will be there for the next event.

This was our first event with any Meet Up group and we were pleasantly surprised. Joey did a fantastic job hosting the evening. He's a great educator of wine and I like his casual style.

Very exciting evening tasting 95 point wines with informative narrative from Joey explaining each wine’s characteristics and region. All the ‘Old World’ wines tasted were a true education in wine appreciation.
