I would like to pitch. Who do I talk to?

    February 8, 2013

  • David R.

Roger. I might be interested in pitching a new startup idea I've been developing. The early market research we've collecting has been very positive. Who is on the panel we'd be pitching to?

    Best,
    Dave

no panel - plan on 50 plus other entrepreneurs

    Any chance you might webcast?

dounbtful - the acoustics are not really conducive to a webcast

I don’t wish to belabor the point, but ”we fully expect to have some investors and VCS's attending” isn’t clarifying who will be there, who will be on the panel, and what one might reasonably expect by participating. Like other startups/entrepreneurs, I need to be judicious not only in how I allocate my time but in evaluating with whom I share my development plans.

Let me put it another way. I could trek down to Palo Alto on the 19th and make my pitch for Sostevinobile in front of ????? or I could come the next night and present at Venture Startup and Financing SIG: A night with Harvard Angels. As it stands, which sounds like it would potentially be the most productive use of my time & resources?

Again, I’m not trying to be contrarian, but am simply looking for specifics…

Hi Mark--You are confused, I was agreeing with you and writing to Mike...See you at Pink Out?

There will be no panel of investors or judges. The format is informal - 3 minutes to tell the group what you are about. No powerpoints, no screens - just a microphone and a podium (and some dimsum)

There is no pitch format other than 3 minutes + questions. Over 90 people are signed up to go, I expect 50+ to actually show up. There are 2 groups. You can be an Alternate. There will be more meetings with pitches.

Hi Mike, Yes, we expect both groups -- other startups needing to practicing pitching their products (and sparking new ideas) but also we fully expect to have some investors and VCS's attending--those that like to get the pulse of projects early on. That is why we are attending and pitching. We are hoping to meet someone who has capital to fund our white paper research in addition to feedback on the avenue in which we are expecting to move. Other attendees will hopefully be able to say, "great idea, wish I thought of that" all the way to "i've tried something similar, let me tell you how mine came out".

    Does that make sense?

Mike--you do see that I am talking to you about this and not Mark right? Mark was confused and thinking I was answering him, which I was not. I also would like clarification from you. I realize this is a new group and moving fast, so hopefully you can answer us today with some more details.

If your expecting investors and VCS at this event your probably not in the right place. We are a new group. There will be very bright people with great ideas and startup background however. I started the group to get more motion in my own startup and meet people. I also wish I knew now 3 years ago when I started up, I would be further along. I want to share some of this knowledge with others and be there for them just as people are for me.

I see no information about to whom we are pitching. I would be quite interested in pitching Sostevinobile if there are viable investors attending/assessing. But I don’t wish to drive to Palo Alto if this is only an informational session. Please let us know.

Hi Roger, Still no details yet on presentation format? How many printed presentations will I need to bring? I'm coming from Sonoma County so have to hit the road by 3. Deets would be appreciated.

I can do a verbal pitch with my website. I'll bring printed PowerPoint as we are looking to go 3.0 and mobile with our project.

We haven't figured out the format yet for the pitching. You get 3 minutes for the (pitch part) and then its a lot of questions, answers, and brain storming. Webcasting will come in the future I hope.
