Great presentation last night. Will the presentation slides be posted online?

      Sweet, thanks everyone.

Done. The PDF is on github as well, so view the README at https://github.com/cvi... for all the details.

Also just a followup on the conversation about using Eloquent and composite keys. It looks like you cannot use them with Eloquent and there is no plan to add support in the near future:

I was pretty sure that was still the case. The prevailing theory being that every record should have a single unique identifier. It makes more sense when you start using the method "getKey()" when writing packages and other functionality.

Also, for those who came to the bar afterwards ... that Chrome-dev-tools-Laravel-debug-thingy I was talking about is https://github.com/itsgoingd/clockwork

Colin's presentation was great and covered the best features of Laravel, I even learned about a couple of things I didn't know about!

    Pizza is ordered!

    March 26

  • Alexander T.

I'm going to try and have the pizza order ready early this time around, if anyone has a preference for something, feel free to mention it here. I've got the usuals - thinking about ordering from Panago.

A few of us from Tipping Canoe are going to hit the Yellow Dog Tavern (next door to Skullspace) for a beverage before the meetup... so come and bend your elbow with us if you like!

    • Chris P.

We will be there just after 5pm ish

After the meetup too, maybe? :)

      March 26

  • Kyle G.

Can't make it this time. I hope everyone enjoys the introduction to Laravel!

    March 25

  • Brook P.

    I'll be there.

    March 21

  • Ben R.

Sorry, can't attend... going to Winnipeg Android meetup instead :(

    March 18

    • Colin V.

... and Android is on the 25th. Two nights of fun!

Oh. Sorry I made that confusing. Check out https://www.picatic.co...

      March 21

  • Alexander T.

Okay everyone, I've set the date for March 26th and booked the classroom! We'll do the same as before with free pizza and knowledge!

    2 · March 15

    • Colin V.

Great. Although, in the interest of clarity, do you want to cancel this meetup listing, and start a clean one for Laravel 101? I'm not sure if the details will get lost in the comments or the non-specific title. :)

      March 15

    • Alexander T.

I've updated the details, that might be better so that nobody gets caught in the crossfire.

Tentatively throwing out Wednesday, March 26 for part one. Sound good?

    • Pierre L.

I think that will work for me too.

      March 10

    • Dan B.

      Works for me.

      March 11

  • Alexander T.

Hey everyone, just an update. Colin and I have started talking about a Laravel meetup, and then I will put together a second that builds off of it. Once things are looking ready for the first lesson, we'll get a date set!

  • Ron

    Thursdays will work for me.

    February 14, 2014

  • Chris P.

Yeah Alex is the laravel expert around these parts. I will happily attend and learn though!

    February 14, 2014

  • Colin V.

Hey Chris, why don't we collaborate on this? I can do "Laravel 101", you can do "201", and we can figure out where that leaves us for "301".

    February 14, 2014

    • Alexander T.

Totally understand, I have similar issues.

      February 14, 2014

    • Alexander T.

If you want, toss me an email (first letter of first name and then last name @gmail.com) to discuss.

      February 14, 2014

  • Pierre L.

Ohh this meetup I really want to attend! If it's not on a Tuesday or thursday night I can make it. Would really like to cover intermediate to advanced topics like the IOC etc... (maybe in class 2 or 3)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
