We will have a chance to hear from Fehed Said about writing for comics and collaborating successfully with artists. Fehed has written The Clarence Principle, published by Slave Labor Graphics, and the tales behind anthology work Talking to Strangers, published by Sweatdrop Studios. We'll hear from someone who has written both long- and shortform fiction and experienced different publishing avenues.
A focused workshop will get artists and writers creating and presenting something during the afternoon and a chance to give one another input on our writing and creative processes. Fehed will also be around to feed back on the workshop and see what we come up with!
Finally, our feedback half of the meetup will follow a new more structured approach...!
-- IMPORTANT!! --
If you would like to have your work-in-progress or finished comic critiqued and fed-back on by the group, please email Emmeline : emmeline.dobson[at]gmail.com
You must be able to email the work you wish to receive critique on by 5th May and to be able to present your work to the group (5 minutes) and respond to questions (10-15 minutes) at the session.
3:00 - 4:00pm will have THREE 20-minute feedback sessions. THREE creators can receive feedback and critique each session. ALL attendees will receive, via email, the work to be critiqued.
Richer and more thought-through critique can be given this way as attendees will have up to 5 days before the session to read, consider, and create notes on each creator's work. We welcome everyone's input, even if you only sign-up the day before and have less time to review the comics being considered, please come along, enjoy the session, and participate!
Guidelines for constructive feedback will be sent as you RSVP to this event so that everyone can get the best possible experience out of contributing to the group.
Extra sign-ups for feedback will be added to a waiting list for future sessions.
Of course if you want informal feedback there is also the pub afterwards!
Come along and meet other comics creators, writers, and illustrators, let's offer one another support, share our knowledge, and get those graphic novels and comics projects moving forwards!
