Wild Goose State Trail & Horicon Marsh

  • This location is shown only to members

Join us for a ride on the
Wild Goose State Trail from
Waupun to
Juneau. We'll have lunch in Juneau before returning to Waupun. The total distance for the ride is
about 32 miles. Riding will be at a
casual pace. The trail has a
crushed limestone surface and is suitable for hybrid bikes or road bikes with wider tires. The trail runs along the western edge of the
Horicon Marsh, which is comprised of the
Horicon National Wildlife Refuge and
Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area. After our ride, there will be time to visit the
Marsh Haven Nature Center,
hike the trails, or
rent a canoe or kayak to explore the marsh itself. Those who wish may join on a 1-1/2 hour
Sunset Cruise of Horicon Marsh. There will be a beverage and cheese gathering at 6:30 PM and the cruise departs at 7:00 PM. This is advertised as an adult-only event with a cost of $18 and advance reservations are needed by calling[masked]-4663.
If you wish to join on the Sunset Cruise, please make your own advance reservation and please let others know, through your RSVP comment, that you'll be joining.
Plan to arrive between 9:00 AM and 9:15 AM. We will push-off promptly at 9:30 AM.
Our ride will begin from the parking lot of the Marsh Haven Nature Center, located on the north side of Highway 49, about 2 miles east of Highway 151 and the town of Waupun. There is easy access to the trail from this location.

Great photos Kathy. Glad you got Winkers or no one would believe such a place exists!

Horicon Marsh is certainly a special place. It would have been nice to spend a day exploring the marsh and surrounding area rather than our so so trail.

Great trip--we came upon a really cool bar that sells 60 cent beers (Winkers) and ate lunch at a nice little family restaurant in Juneau. Thanks for planning a great trip Ron!
