Door County, Wisconsin, riding along the shores of Lake Michigan! The ride is based out of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, where we will start Friday morning and return to Sunday afternoon. The routes for both Friday and Sunday are 60 miles on quiet country roads with rest stops planned at the quaint towns where you can refresh yourself with the unique treats that Door County has to offer. There will be time for sightseeing and "doing the tourist thing" for those that wish, however the routes are designed to avoid the highly congested tourist areas. Friday's ride goes to the Northern tip of Door County, where we will take a
ferry boat to
Washington Island. We will spend both Friday night and Saturday night on Washington Island. On Saturday, we will have a very casual tour around the perimeter of Washington Island, stopping at many places along the way and including
another ferry boat ride to
Rock Island State Park, which we will tour on foot. We'll have group dinners both Friday and Saturday. You may also join us for a
concert with Dr. Jazz Saturday evening on Washington Island. On Sunday, we will return to Sturgeon Bay via a different route than our outbound route. We can expect to arrive back in Sturgeon Bay by early afternoon on Sunday.
Door County and
Washington Island offer an interesting assortment of things to do and see, and have numerous shopping and dining opportunities.
Please note that this is a self-supported ride and that no luggage transport is provided. Each rider is responsible for transporting their own supplies for the weekend. Pack light and use a large saddle bag or panniers. Enjoy the ride at a more moderate pace and experience a great sense of independence!

Sturgeon Bay Accommodations There are many motels in Sturgeon Bay, however the ride will start and end at the motel listed below. It is strongly recommended that reservations be made ASAP for this motel for Thursday, July 24.
Ron has reserved a block of 6 rooms at the Viking Village Motel
. Contact Ron if you wish to reserve one of the rooms from our block. The cost is $150 per room, which covers both nights. These are available on a first-come/first-served basis. Four of these rooms have 2 double beds, so you may share your room and reduce your expenses if you wish. If you wish to stay elsewhere on Washington Island, or if our block of rooms is no longer available, you may check online for a list of motels and camping options. Two online sources are the Washington Island website
and the Washington Island Chamber of Commerce website

The motels on Washington Island fill up several months in advance, so it is highly recommended to make your reservation ASAP for Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26 for your Washington Island motel. RSVP and Reservations Event fee includes a donation to the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin and covers overhead expenses. Event fee is non-refundable. No SAG support is provided. Please RSVP "Yes" if you wish to attend and have paid the event fee. RSVP "Maybe" if you are considering attending, but have not yet paid the event fee. RSVPs of "Yes" will be changed to "Maybe" if the event fee has not yet been received.
