New Meetup: Personal Ethics and Professional Responsibility

From: Vernon
Sent on: Sunday, March 29, 2009 12:32 PM
Announcing a new Meetup for "With an Open Mind" Discussion Group!

What: Personal Ethics and Professional Responsibility

When: April 8,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: In late 2008 the Bush administration issued a regulation, set to take effect on the then President?s last day in office, that allowed health care workers to decline to provide or participate in any service that violates their beliefs. It was reported in late February of this year that the Obama administration is moving to, possibly, overturn that policy. Clearly, this is a complex issue, with good arguments to be offered by those in favor of and those opposed to the current policy. It is also only one example of the conflict which often arises between the application of personal ethics and the exercise of professional responsibility. Join us as we identify the MANY areas in which this conflict arises and then discuss how this conflict can and should be resolved.
