Experience the abundance of incredible animal tracks along a great Puyallup River sandbar near Orting. We will start with a summary of the characteristics of animal families, then review core sensory awareness exercises as we walk out onto the river sandbar to identify, interpret, age, and trail animals which have left tracks, scat and other sign in sand, gravel, tall grass, forest debris and wetlands.

To get a jump-start on the knowledge you'll gain in this workshop, click on the Wolf Journey Chapter 7 - The Arts of Tracking article written by workshop instructor Chris Chisholm. We guarantee this will be a fun, eye-opening experience for everyone. In fact, some of the tracks we have found and followed in the past at this sand bar location include:

Park at the Orting City Park along the 200 block of 207 Van Scoyoc Avenue and meet us for coffee inside the Orting Bakery, 212 Washington Ave, between 7:00-7:30 a.m. If you are late, call instructor Chris Chisholm's cell (provied upon registration) and he'll give you directions to where we will park along Orville Road about 2.5 miles south of Orting, where you'll be able to see us toward the river. Basically, you'll need to drive 1 mile south of Orting, turn right onto Orville Road at the big sign pointing to the "town" of Electron, and continue south 1.5 more miles, then finding a place to park along Orville Road just past Fiske Road East.

The workshop will last until 12:30 and carpooling is available.
