Intro to programming using Java in Greenfoot
NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE IS ASSUMED
Greenfoot is an environment that makes it easy to create computer games and simulations in Java, using visual and interactive components. If you'd like to learn programming, Greenfoot is a great place to start.
Greenfoot aims to motivate learners quickly by providing easy access to animated graphics, sound and interaction. The environment is highly interactive and encourages exploration and experimentation and is designed to illustrate and emphasize important abstractions and concepts of object-oriented programming. Concepts such as the class/object relationship, methods, parameters, and object interaction are conveyed through visualizations and guided interactions.
(If none of the above made sense, don't worry, it will by the end of this four week class.)
Everyone's favorite instructor, Francesca Slade, will be following an AP Computer Science type curriculum to teach these programming fundamentals in Java using the Greenfoot development environment. The classes will be held at Google Chicago.
