Taking back roads through some country towns to Mt Cheaha, Alabama. 75 miles one way from meetup spot. Once to base of mountain ride ~ 19 miles of the Cheaha Mtn Skyway to the state park at the top. This is the foothills of the Appalachchian mountains and the highest point in the state. The local Creek Indians named this place "Chaha", mearning "high place". This area is completely surrounded by the Talladega National forest. After taking in the sights, travel down past Choccolocco Lake Resevoir to Oxford, AL for a simple lunch at Mcallister's Deli.
