We are the ladies who have homes to share; very special homes. We invite anyone who'd like attend -- from the Women Living in Community group. We plan to get to know each other better; learn how to best determine what makes great homeshares and how to find that mutual person with whom to house share, and develop becoming a support system for each other.

    Ladies:
I found some terrific places for rent for two people today and hired a mover two days ago. I can provide some nice furnishings in places like these. Is there anyone out there willing to take a leap of faith with me and look at places together when I am in town in a few weeks? If so, email me and I'll forward the properties to you. I love the idea of the pocket communities but don't have the $ right now to buy into that. Renting is the answer.

    Hi everyone!
I couldn't make the meeting today but wanted to, since I have a wonderful place where people can rent a room and share their lives with about 8 others (it's a triplex) - and a room opening up in September or October. Please see LotusLodge.com for info.
And yes Lisa, the book "A Pattern Language" is wonderful! And while it's a thick book, each "chapter" or topic covered is only about 3 pages long. It's great fun to look through and inspires lots of good ideas.

Go to "Members", scroll down or search for the person you wish to email to, then click on the envelope that appears next to their name when you move your cursor there. If there's a slash mark through the envelope they have chosen not to receive emails. You don't actually get their email address - Meetup sends your message to them.

I am coming to Asheville mid September (14-21, tentatively) for a week to find a place to rent/live. Sharing a large house is perfect or a 2/1 with living room space, that is a possibility also. $600 max including utilities. If any of you know a place for Oct. 1 occupancy, please contact me. West or North Asheville, but I'll look at all the places you offer. My profile is complete, so if you want to find out more about me, please read that. Am excited to be finally arriving... the best of me is yet to come, through knowing you! Thanks...

Hi Jackie. We spoke a couple of times on the phone. I have read your profile and am glad you are moving up here ... I think you will be a great addition to the group. Take a look at my profile. I just finished it yesterday and am working on the blueprint of me this week. i may be able to host you temporarily in the home I have on the market right now if it is not sold by September ... no storage available though. Contact me when time gets closer if you have not found something.

perhaps posting these house will bring together like minded groups sooner. i'm not there. but they are. and i'm doing it for them. if i wind up in one, great. in the meantime, it's something tangible to focus on, maybe even get together and view the property. nothing ventured, nothing gained. it tells the universe you mean business and IT becomes a partner in creating the vision. it's called 'the ticket to access the dream'.

Found this great house for rent in north asheville:

    http://www.zillow.com/homedetai...

it's been on there 46 days so they may be agreeable to lower rent. 3 bdrms in 2800 sqft, all wood floors. take a look. if the landlord comes down to 1500 a month, split 3 ways is $500 each + utilities.

If no one minds, i'm looking and posting for all of you.

I don't know that this is the place to post. But hey, I am only one person. Might be best to do once groups of like minded band together to find shared living.

Susan and Jackie- make sure you have a daily digest of emails. That is the best way to "stay on the list".

It was a good discussion, though we might accomplish more with an agenda or if we discussed goals for the meeting initially.

    Wonderful get-together!

Here are the books I mentioned, both available through the local library. "A Pattern Language" is dense; the other book is more accessible, yet it misses some of the deep wisdom and amazing tone of "A Pattern Language."

A pattern language : towns, buildings, construction
    Alexander, Christopher.

Patterns of home : the ten essentials of enduring design
    Jacobson, Max

The key to creating a house that is memorable, satisfying, and enduring is to apply a group of design concepts--or "patterns"--that focus on the experience of being in a home. Patterns explore the presence of light, the relationship between indoors and out, the flow through rooms, and the feel of one space as you are sitting in another.

This first meeting of the Sanctuaries to Share group, had a good combination of getting to know each other along with insights on what has worked and not for each of us in a shared household. Also what each of of those with sanctuaries might be offering and looking for in a housemate. I learned a great deal about myself and others in the group. Also that it is good to go to all of the groups. That is encouraged!! Get to know everyone that you can!! Never know when the home and person you meet is the right fit. Big important plus is to know what you want FIRST. Looking forward to our next gathering at Sharon's on the 25th to talk about the Blueprint of Me, which starts some of the process on that path.

This is for Cindy, but others may want to know why they are not getting any messages. Cindy, I got your email but am unable to reply because you apparently have blocked emails. On the My profile - Email settings page there is an option to check a box for "Don't send me mailing list messages". Apparently you have checked that and that prevents any of us communicating with you. I checked only the "one daily email" option and do not get too many emails.

What was discussed at the meeting? Can/will someone clue me in so the rest of us who couldn't make it know and are connected? I feel badly to have missed it. Are there minutes or an agenda that can be shared? Thank you in advance!

    Hello everyone:
    Have a wonderful meeting Saturday!

Looks like i'll be needing a place to rent sooner than expected myself! There is a serious renter prospect for my house in Florida and that frees me up move to Asheville by Oct.1, 2012. Please keep me in mind to contact when women offer their homes to share. I have been studying the site Blueprint of WE and it looks like a good foundation to discover one another.Even though I am long distance for now I am trying to keep connected to you through this meetup site. HomeMates may reach me on my cell: [masked]
My profile is complete on this site, so please get to know me better, as I will you when you contact me. Blessings to you all. We are pioneers on a new frontier!

Hi Everybody...we're only about two days away from our first group meeting -- yeah! Looking forward to seeing everyone again, making new friends, learning, and learning more about our new friends. I'm going to start a discussion (s) -- should anyone want to reply -- I'm always good for an opinion myself :) but I sure don't have all the answers? So -- conversation -- feedback -- opinion -- wisdom are all openly welcomed!

I'm excited to see that a number of others will be joining us on Saturday afternoon and look forward to reporting back! Cindy

Hi Gals! I recognize some of you from my dear old Asheville friends .. i have a 3,000 square ft. home in North Asheville on a quiet cull-de-sac. I have a home studio in it ( I do voice-over for a living), and I share it with my 12 year old son every other week. There is a master BR and BA to share, and another room that can be an office or bedroom. I will bring my computer so that you can see pictures. The house has many wonderful amenities, such as a jacuzzi tub, migun bed and whole house water filtration as well as Kangun water filter. Call me at [masked] if you want to come by or talk.

Thanks to all the ladies who are attracting one another, who are coming forward offering their homes to share with other women and achieving the community sharing experience. Since I was in Asheville in April the verbal intention has blossomed into a defined direction. Finding a good house with space to have common areas and private areas, with storage and space to paint, would fit my needs. Living with other creative thinkers, not necessarily artists, makes for a lively, vital environment. Many of us have lived alone for a long time and crave company while still revering solitude. Please feel free to call me to chat. [masked] or email me at [masked]. Hopefully by thanksgiving or sooner, I will be physically present, calling some of you housemates. Blessings to you all!
