iOS Study Group - 5/9

Come and learn to make iOS apps in Objective-C!

We will work in groups to make a simple app each night. All levels of coders are welcome to attend.

If this is your first time working with Objective-C and Xcode, please take a look at the Learning iOS Resources page on our Wiki.

All lessons, examples, and code will be posted to our group GitHub account: https://github.com/iosstudygroup

We also have a Google Group: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!forum/ios-study-group

Schedule:

6:30 - 7:00 Dinner

7:00 - 9:00 Coding

What to do beforehand?

You will need a Mac computer running OSX[masked] or later, with Xcode 4.0 or later. Please install Xcode from the Mac App Store before you arrive! It is a very large program and will take some time to download.

If you do not have a Mac, please let us know in your RSVP so we can try to pair women together.

This event is exclusively open to people who identify as female.

Is it best to start with a Navigation Controller if you are building a game? Mostly the game will be a single view - but would like start and score views/screens for now.

I was planning on covering some iPad-specific UI controls. Namely UISplitViewController and UIPopoverController.

Question: What happens to the app after its done coding? Does it go to market?

    May 9, 2013

    • Michele T.

We are not making a single app. It's a different topic each week.

My circuits are overloading. I'm going to have to catch this another time. Cheers - Michelle Z.

Hi, is this a series where you are all working through increasingly complex projects together, over the course of multiple meetups? Or can it make sense for a new person to join mid-stream? I have dev experience but am at square-one with iOS & Obj-C.

This study group isn't a series. Feel free to come whenever you like!
