We will be watching videos on algorithms from Coursera, white boarding, and discussing algorithms. Coursera is offering a new 6-week algorithms course from Stanford called "Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Part 1". A version of this course is taken by sophomore, junior, and senior-level computer science majors at Stanford as a required course. The class will cover fundamental principles of algorithm design: divide-and-conquer methods, graph algorithms, practical data structures (heaps, hash tables, search trees), randomized algorithms, and applications. Sign up to take the course online and download the videos:
We'll be working on Graphs as part of week 3.
This event is exclusively open to people who identify as female. queer- and trans-friendly.
DIRECTIONS: It's the Sourcery Office, but it's not labeled. The conference room is on 210, so ring the bell on the 210 side (the door has graffiti art on it).
