Mobile Study Group

  • May 5, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Welcome to the Mobile Study group. If you have interest in Mobile development, please attend!

Format:

You will pair program with other attendees and build an app! You'll move at your own pace and will be able to get your hands dirty with an app from initial design to full implementation. Mentors will be floating around to answer any and all questions so you can leave with a super cool app!

Schedule:

6:30 - 7:00 Mingle

7:00 - 9:00 Pair Programming

What to do beforehand?

iOS: You will need a Mac computer running OSX 10.7 or later, with Xcode 4.5 or later. Please install Xcode from the Mac App Store before you arrive.

Android: Android apps can be developed on Mac or PC. Please install Android Studio or Eclipse and the Android SDK before you arrive. If you do not have the proper equipment, don't worry, we will pair everyone up to work together.

As with all Women Who Code events, this event is open only to those who identify as a woman. Women Who Code is emphatically trans- and queer-friendly.

I really enjoyed it and liked the space, though I had a difficult time finding it. I hope this study group continues, because I am really learning a lot.

Hi folks, just wanted to address a couple of the questions.

Tonight's event is not really a class. You're encouraged to bring your project or learning materials, but there isn't a curriculum -- this is focused time to work on your projects, with the help of mentors.

There'll be an event most Mondays, in case you cannot make this one.

Also Ari, I'd love to meet you. I am currently taking Nathan's Android 8-week course, and heard you were a CodePath alum! I'm going to lead the next 8-week course this summer.

So I *may* have to skip this one, as I'm with Noni (commented below) in the same Codepath Observer group, but I'm doing my best to get my assignments in! If this is a problem due to a waitlist emerging. Let me know! [masked]. Thanks!

Hi ladies - it turns out we will NOT have dinner tonight. Please eat before arriving! Feel free to bring something, too.

Hi, will this class repeat soon? I would love very much to attend, but have a deadline this week (another Android class, ftw!), so as a good student, I should work on my current project and come to this class next time.

Can any level student join too? So far I have only develop one app and I would love to join to this event as well.
